Elkader Register, Thur., 2 Sept., 1926. Strawberry Point columns.
The death of John Fuelner, aged 52 years, occurred last Wednesday morning at the Finley hospital in Dubuque where he had been for the past seven weeks, at that time he went there and underwent an operation for appendicitis and seemed to be doing as well as could be expected. Other complications set in and the best medical aid was given until specialists from Iowa City came to the Finley hospital to assist in caring for the sick one. At times he would seem better then again worse and seemed to be getting along better until a few days before when he grew worse and death relieved him from all suffering. The remains were brought home Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services occurred Friday afternoon at the German Lutheran church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Jahr. Interment took place in our beautiful cemetery. He leaves to mourn his absence, his heart-broken wife, who was at his bedside during his sickness, one daughter, Miss Alice, and one son, Vernard, besides three brothers and two sisters, Michael and Edward of this place and George of Eugene, Ore., Mrs. Wm. Waring of this place and Mrs. Adam Wenschel of Germany, besides a large circle of relatives and friends.
