Gotfried Fassbinder, a former long-time highly respected resident of Guttenberg, died at his home on last Thursday at the age of 83 years, after a long illness. Deceased was born in Germany, later coming to the United States and settling on a farm in Jefferson township, Clayton county, Iowa. He was married to Miss Frances Beerman. A number of years ago he retired from the farm and came to Guttenberg with his family to reside. Several years ago the family went to Monona to make their home where the deceased spent the remainder of his life. Mr. Fassbinder was a kind and loving husband, father and friend and was held in the highest regard by all who knew him. He was a faithful member of the Catholic church. His death is deeply mourned by his widow, one son, Werner of Dubuque, four daughters, Celia, Clara, Delia and Teresa, all of Monona, and a number of grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who will all sadly miss this good and true man. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church at Monona on Monday morning, Rev. Luke Donlon officiating. The body was brought to Guttenberg for burial.
