Funeral services for Victor Carl John Meyer, 69, were held Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 13, at 1:45 o'clock from the Schultz Funeral home to St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran church at 2 o'clock with Rev. R. C. Schlueter officiating. Burial was in the City cemetery.

Mr. Meyer died Sunday morning, Jan. 11, at 10:30 o'clock at his home as a result of cancer. He had been ill for the past five years and suffered for many years with impaired hearing.

He was born a son of Charles and Sophie, nee Stopperan, Meyer, July 20, 1889, near Postville, in Grand Meadow township, Clayton county. He was baptized by Pastor Gass at Postville, Aug. 25, 1889. He was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Postville by Rev. E. Bockelman.

He was married to Amanda Kregel at Garnavillo, Feb. 10, 1914, by Rev. Claus Bosholm. For years following their marriage the couple lived on farms in a number of townships of Clayton county until they retired to Monona in 1924. They became members of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran church in Monona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Clevert and Glen of Postville, and one granddaughter, Karen Kay. Klotzbach.

Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Walter (Irene) Klotzbach; one son, LaVern; two sisters, Mrs. William (Tillie) Baltz and Mrs. Henry (Malinda) Heusman of Postville; and three grandchildren.

Music at the services was provided by Don Sabbann, soloist. Organist was Mrs. George Heins Jr.

Pallbearers were: Lorin Meyer, Arthur Baltz, Donald Lamker, Ronald Meyer, Eugene Collins, Carlton Collins, Julius Dettmann, and Victor Walter.
