Edward Miller of Mallory township, a brother of the late Dr. W. A. Miller of Elkader, died Monday afternoon at a hospital in Dubuque of complications resulting from the rupture of an intestine while lifting a hay rack last Friday. The funeral services are being held this afternoon and burial will be in the Brown cemetery near Colesburg. Mr. Miller was close to fifty years old and unmarried.

Edward Miller, A life-long resident of this section, passed away at Finley hospital, Dubuque, Monday afternoon, July 19, 1926, at the age of 48 years, 6 months and 3 days. His death resulted from an accident which befell him a few days previously. While placing the hay rack on the wagon it spilled and struck him in the chest, inflicting fatal injuries. He was taken to the hospital where an operation was performed in a vain effort to save his life.
Edward Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Miller, pioneers resident of this community, was born Jan. 16, 1878, after the death of his parents he and his sister, Miss Tillie Miller, continued to reside in the homestead in the Updegraph neighborhood north of town. He was well known and highly respected and his untimely passing brings keen sorrow to his family and friends.
He is survived by two sisters, Miss Tillie Miller of Colesburg, and Mrs. Florence Tidbaugh of Brookings, S.D., and three brothers, Sumner of Pine Bluffs, Wyo., Frank of Dubuque and Dr. G. C. Miller of Guttenberg, besides a wide circle of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday from his late home, in charge of Rev. A. N. Hollingshead. Interment was made in the Brown cemetery. Ernest sympathy is extended the family in this sad bereavement.
