The remains of Mrs. John D. Layton, who died at Minneapolis Tuesday, June 22nd, were brought here today and the funeral services will be held at the Congregational church tomorrow, Friday afternoon, at 2 o'clock with burial on the family lot in the East Side cemetery.

Anna V. Ernst was the daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth Ernst and was born in Highland township, Clayton county, June 2, 1869. She resided with her parents until her marriage to John Layton in August, 1887.

Mr. and Mrs. Layton were residents of Elkader for about fifteen years, leaving here about 1914. They have resided in a number of places since that time, a part of the time at Crookston, Minn., and for the past two years at Minneapolis.

Six children were born to them: Frederick E. of Minneapolis; Dils of Philadelphia, Missouri; Stella, deceased; Arthur J., who died at Angiers, France, while in the service of his country; Lewis L. of Milwaukee, Wis., and Harry G. residing with his parents.

Mrs. Layton is survived by her husband, one brother, Fred Ernst; four children and one grandson. The many fiends she made while living in this county will sorrow at her death and sympathize with the bereaved relatives.
