Mr. Frank Berns passed away at his home here Tuesday night, June 15th, at the age of 69 years. He was born April 23, 1857, in Volga township and was only ten years of age when his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Berns came to reside on the farm a mile east of Garnavillo, which place has been the abode of the son. Mr. Berns was married to Anna Seibertz. To this union were born six children: Mrs. Lizzie Connell, Arthur, Frank, Raymond, Vernie and Anna. Besides the wife and children deceased is survived by three brothers: Peter, Theodore and Henry of Volga township. One brother, Herman, died in 1900 in Oklahoma, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Berse and Tillie also preceded in death. Mr. Berns was a good husband, father and neighbor and a faithful member of the Catholic church. Father A. Bomholt administered the Holy Sacrament and performed the last rites. Funeral services were held Friday forenoon and were largely attended.
