Elkader Register, Thur., 11 Mar. 1926. Strawberry Point column.

Last Thursday morning word was passed around announcing the death of Mrs. Wm. F. Reinecke, after many months of illness. Perhaps those that were around her bedside did not know the exact amount of suffering the deceased endured, as she was uncomplaining and only when her miseries were unbearable did she let them see the intensity of her anguish. Mrs. Reinecke, nee Lena Benson, was born at Forestville, and has spent nearly all her life around here. She was married to Wm. F. Reinecke on September 8, 1923. Mrs. Reinecke was a graduate nurse and many times when called on would go to care for a sick one no matter how bad she felt. She was always ready to go as long as her health permitted. Whenever she spoke of or expressed her opinion of anyone it was always in the highest term of esteem, praise and admiration. We can do almost nothing to change the fate of sorrow. The life that blossomed at the command of an invisible power fades out at the command of the same power. All we can offer one another in this sad hour is the sympathy of helplessness. Let us look upon the cold, deep, and silent grave as a place of rest and an abode of peace, a place where sorrow and pain can not enter nor suffering come. Beside her husband and aged mother, Mrs. Anna Benson, she leaves two sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Joe Pazandek of Fullerton, N.D., Mrs. Amiel Retz of Dundee, Andrew O. Benson of Red River Falls, Minn., Elmer Benson of Arena, N.D., and B. J. Nelson of Dundee, besides other relatives and a large circle of friends. Her father, one brother and one sister preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at the home of her mother Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. G. W. Turner and interment was made in the local cemetery.
