Wagner Township Farmer Passes Away.
Ole Thompson was born Aug. 14, 1857, in Clayton county, Iowa, and died Feb. 27, 1926, at the hospital in McGregor of a ruptured appendix.
Until he was taken sick with appendicitis, about a week before he died, he had always enjoyed good health. While visiting his brother Knut, his last well day, he had made mention of how well he was. But his hour was fast approaching.
Mr. Thompson had been a member of the Norway congregation all of his life and had in many ways helped to carry its burdens. Until vicissitude of fortune came, he had been a regular church attender, but discouragement overwhelmed him and he was much at home the last three years of his life.
He has lived a tranquil life in his farm home. He said to his life companion, when he took her hand before (several words blurred) havdt det godt" meaning that there had always been harmony in the home.
He understood the way of salvation and what is required of a sinner to stand in the presence of God. Not by merit, but by grace can we stand.
He leaves to mourn him four children, two grandchildren, a brother and a sister. There are: Thorwald of Chicago, Mrs. W. Zahn and her two children Herman and Oscar, all at home. His brother Knut and sister, Mrs. O. Gulsvig, of St. Olaf.
