Elkader Register, Thur., 28 Jan. 1926. Guttenberg News column.

F. L. Carrier passed away at his home in this city on last Thursday morning, January 21, 1926, at 1:30 o'clock, at the age of 51 years and 7 days, and after a short illness. Deceased was born at Strawberry Point, Iowa, on January 14, 1875. When fifteen years of age he went to Garnavillo with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvester Carrier, where he lived for a number of years and where he learned the butter maker's trade, which occupation he followed for some time. He also was a resident of Dorchester and Clayton, Iowa, at one time. On August 6, 1896, he was united in marriage with Miss Alma Claus at Clayton, Iowa. He was successfully engaged in farming in Clayton county for sixteen years. Seven years ago he came to Guttenberg with his family to reside, where he spent the remainder of his life. While a resident of Guttenberg he was engaged in the auto taxi business. He had been ill about two weeks when death called him. Mr. Carrier was an ambitious man during his entire life, and he was a kind and loving husband, father, brother and friend. During his illness he was a patient sufferer, and hopes for recovery until the Angel of Death called him to the Great Beyond. All that loving hands could do and medical knowledge could suggest, was done for him to save his life, but all to no avail. Mr. Carrier was a member of the Woodmen Fraternal Order, being a member of the Garnavillo camp whose members attended the funeral in a body. His untimely death is deeply mourned by his widow, three sons, Lester, Loris and Willis of Guttenberg; four daughters, Mrs. Winnifred Derby and Mrs. Dollie Gossman, of Dubuque, and the Misses Ethel and Hallie Carrier, of Guttenberg; three granddaughters, two twin grandsons, three brothers, Glint Carrier, of Strawberry Point, Wiiam Carrier of Sioux City, and Alvia Carrier, of Windsor, N.Y., who will all sadly miss him. Funeral services were held at the Carrier home in this city on Saturday afternoon, Rev. D. D. Welch of the M.E. church officiating. The body was laid to rest in the city cemetery. At the grave the M.W.A. had charge of the services. The funeral was largely attended.
