Mrs. Theresia Schmidt passed away at the county hospital at Elkader of which she had been an inmate for the past twelve years, on Sunday morning, January 24, 1926, at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 19 days. Deceased was born in Millville township, Clayton county, Iowa, as a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Frederick Schrunk on April 5, 1849, where she spent the greater part of her life on a farm. About 55 years ago she was united in marriage with Mr. George Schmidt who preceded her in death on December 23, 1904. She was an ambitious woman during her life until her health began to fail her and was a kind and loving sister and friend. She is survived by one brother, W. H. Schrunk of Colesburg, Iowa, a large number of nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives and friends. The body was brought to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Moser, of Guttenberg, her nephew and niece on Sunday, the day of her death. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church in this city on Tuesday morning, Rev. D. D. Welch officiating. The body was laid to rest in the Bolsinger cemetery in Mallory township. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near.
