Mrs. Elizabeth (Beeh) Cords died at her home in Cox Creek township last Friday evening, Dec. 9th. She had been suffering from Paralysis for the last five years.
The first years of her life were spent in Sellinge_, Baden, Germany where she was born on October 25, 1850. With her parents, Philip Jacob and Katharine Barbara Beeh, she came, at the age of nine years, to Clayton County and lived for several years in Volga township on the farm now operated by her nephew, Philip Beeh. On September 17, 1871, she was married in Garnavillo to John J. Cords, and then settled on the place where she has lived ever since.
She is survived by two sons, Philip J. Cords of Monona and Joseph L. Cords of Cox Creek, and by one daughter, Mrs. Paulina Beckman, of Cox Creek township. Mrs. Cords is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lena Hartman and Mrs. Sophia Watson of Chicago, as well as by several grandchildren and ( rest of sentence unreadable).
The funeral service was held at her home on Monday afternoon at half past twelve with the Rev. C. T. Brewster officiating and at her grave in Communia.
