Frank J. Zapf, a resident of Elkport, died at his home Thursday afternoon, Nov. 17, 1932. Mr. Zapf was injured in an automobile accident on October 12th, from which injuries he died. Mr. Zapf was born in Garnavillo township, in Clayton county, May 18, 1867. His parents, Max and Elizabeth Zapf, were pioneer settlers in this section.

Deceased was married to Anna B. Foley at Manchester, Iowa, Sept. 28, 1892. He is survived by his wife and four children, two daughters, Mary Elizabeth and Anna Marie, and two sons, John P. and Louis, all of Elkport, and two brothers, Joseph and Chris Zapf, of Volga township, and two grandchildren, the children of J. P. Zapf.

For the past seven years Mr. Zapf has been in the mercantile business at Elkport.

He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War and a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. Frank, as he was familiarly called by his many friends, was well and favorably known. He was a real friend and a real man and leaves many friends to mourn his death. The funeral took place Monday from his home in Elkport to St. Michael's church at Garber, Rev. Father Goetzinger officiating. Burial was at Manchester, Iowa.
