John M. Quinn was born June 24, 1863, on a farm in Cox Creek township, the son of Robert and Sarah Carroll Quinn, and died Friday, Nov. 18, 1932, at Elkader following a week's illness. He was married in August, 1888, to Katherine Ryan of Madison, S.D., and to them eleven children were born. Besides the wife, ten children survive. They are: Harry, Edgewood; Rose Boland, Strawberry Point; Ella Boland, Elkader; George, Wichita, Kans.; John, Dubuque; Joseph, San Francisco, Calif.; Julia Roach, Elkader; Robert, Detroit, Mich.; Robert, Detroit, Mich.; and Delores, at home.
One brother, Peter H. Quinn of Strawberry Point, and two sisters, Mrs. J. P. Ivory of Strawberry Point and Mrs. D. E. Gleason of Elkader, also survive.
Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Mary's Catholic church at Strawberry Point, Rev. Classen of Independence read the mass and Rev. John Bowen, the present priest, gave the funeral sermon. Burial was made in the Cox Creek cemetery.
