Byrdella Monnahan, daughter of Michael and Mary Monnahan, was born Sept. 5, 1880, at Wadena, Ia., and died Nov. 2, 1932, 1:30 a.m. at Elkader following a short illness.
She was educated in the schools at West Union, graduating from the high school there, and later attended Upper Iowa University.
In 1902 she was married to Mr. William Taylor, who preceded her in death. This union was not blessed with any children.
She had resided in Clayton county since 1922, and had been keeping house for her brother Jim.
Deceased is survived by three sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Wm. Doran, Oelwein; Mrs. Wm. Hand, Elkader; Mrs. A. R. Bice, Chicago; John Monnahan, Lincoln, Nebr.; and Jim Monnahan, Volga, and other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Nov. 4, 1932, at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Elkader, Rev. Father Taken officiating, with interment in the Catholic cemetery here in Elkader.
Those from away who attended the funeral were: Harrison Smith, Volga; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Doran, Oelwein; Byrdella Doran, Oelwein; Michael Bice, Chicago; Florence and Ethel Hand, Waverly; and Hazel Smith, Dubuque.
The pall-bearers were M. J. Garaghty, Mike Downey, M. J. Poull, James Cain, A. A. Shultz and E. A. Burlingame.
