Theodore G. Siege, lifelong and highly regarded resident of Clayton county, died at his home in Guttenberg last Thursday evening, after an illness of long duration.
Deceased was born on a farm in Garnavillo township, Nov. 29, 1872, and died at the age of 59 years, 11 months and four days. He was united in marriage with Miss Alma Herchert at Garnavillo, Feb. 22, 1905. For many years Mr. Siege was successfully engaged in farming in Garnavillo township. In March, 1920, the family came to Guttenberg to reside, where Mr. Siege spent the remainder of his ambitious and Christian life. To know Mr. Siege was to respect and like him. To do acts of kindness for his family and friends was his greatest pleasure in life at all times, which won him many friends by whom his memories will be forever cherished.
He was a public spirited man and a faithful member of the Evangelical Lutheran church. He was always ready and glad to give his assistance in every way possible to all things for the betterment of the community in which he lived, and at all times stood for justice and righteousness.
His death is deeply mourned by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Miller of Giard, and Miss Burnetta Siege at home; one grandchild; one brother, Henry G. Siege of Dubuque, and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. J. F. Adix at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church in Guttenberg, Sunday afternoon. The body was laid to rest in the city cemetery at Garnavillo. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near.
