Mrs. Mabel Moyer Wells, wife of Alonzo H. Wells, died at her home here in Elkader early Saturday morning, October 15th, after an illness which had confined her to her bed only during the last week.
Her entire life was spent in Elkader, where she was born on August 20, 1870, the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Moyer. For several years before her marriage, on October 21, 1891, she taught in the rural schools around Elkader. She was recorder for the local chapter of Royal Neighbors for fifteen years.
Two boys, Percy and Perry, twins, preceded the mother in death. She is survived by her husband, five daughters, Miss Freda Wells, Mrs. Hattie Stevens, of Elkader; Mrs. Amie Zeigler of Webster City; Mrs. Myra Hulverson of Volga City; and Shirley Wells, and one son, DeVere Wells at home, besides two sisters, Mrs. Kate Barthel of Elkader and Mrs. Estella Frohbach of Medford, Oregon.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. C. T. Brewster on Monday afternoon at the home at 1:30 and at the Congregational church at 2:00. The burial was in the East Side cemetery
