Vinton - Emiline Maria Bascom, 87, died early Sunday morning, March 4, 2001 at Virginia Gay Hospital following an extended illness.

She was born March 7, 1913 at Marengo to Arthur and Margaret Johnson Zimmerman. Emiline was married to Guy Gould and he preceded her in death. On November 27, 1991 she married Glenn Bascom at Vinton.

Emiline enjoyed crafts, sewing, caring for her plants and fishing.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn of Vinton; her son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Ruth Gould of Edgewood; her daughter and son-in-law, Geneviev and Fred Martin; her daughter-in-law, Norma Gould of Eufaula, OK; two step-daughters and their husbands, Karen and Marvin Mettler of Arnolds Park, and Susan and Tom Harrelson of Shelsburg; many grand and great-grandchildren; her sister, Margaret Vitek of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces, nephews.

In addition to her first husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Arthur.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton with Rev. David Gates of the First Christian Church officiating. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m, Tuesday. A memorial fund has been established.

Note: Emiline's first husband Guy Osborn Gould is buried in Union cemetery, Clayton co. Her name is memorialized on his stone, although she is buried with her 2nd husband (Jessie 'Glenn' Bascom 1919-2012) in Oakwood cemetery.
