Clayton County Register, Thur., 15 Sept. 1932.

McGregor: James McLaughlin died at the family residence Thursday, Sept. 15, at 9 a.m. He was born July 22, 1857, at Highland township, Clayton county. On Oct 25, 1881, he was married at Tama, Iowa, to Sarah Gilmartin, who survives him. Also surviving him are a sister, Mrs. Mary Mulligan of Denver, Colo., and two nieces whom he had reared, Mrs. Stella Grady of St. Paul, and Mrs. Joe Roerig of Winnebago, Minn., besides other nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock, the Rev. J. J. Horsefield officiating. Interment was in St. Joseph's cemetery at Elkader.
