Mrs. John Diamond
Ellen May Barnhouse, the daughter of Francis and Nancy Barnhouse, was born in Hagerstown, Ohio on May 30th, 1848 and died at her home in Monona, Iowa, March 14, 1933 at 2:20 AM at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 1 days. She was an aunt of Mrs. Sam Gween of McGregor.
On February 24th, 1870 she was united in marriage at Prairie du Chien, WI, to John Diamond. To this union were born six children, one dying in infancy. Those surviving are Francis Alfred, Millersburg, MO, Mrs. Wm. Biggs and Miss Mae of Monona, Iowa, Wesley, of Boone IA and Mrs. S.E. Taylor, of Beloit, WI.
Mr. And Mrs. Diamond celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on February 14th.
Mrs. Diamond was an energetic, ambitious neighborly soul, and drew to her side many a passerby who stopped for a word of friendly greeting. About 42 years ago she was united to the Congregational Church of McGregor, Iowa, and 25 years ago she transferred her membership to the Methodist Episcopal Church.
About 3 years ago Mrs. Diamond suffered a stroke of apoplexy and from that time was confined to her home and much of the time to her bed.
There remains to mourn her passing beside the bereaved husband and children mentioned above, five grandchildren, Mrs. Edgar Ziegler, Dale Diamond, Mrs. Dave Dull, Mrs. Robert.

A portion of the last sentence in the obituary is incomplete. It should read "Mrs. Robert Mork".
The mother of Ellen May Diamond was Nancy Kelly.
Re: the names for Ellen's children:
1. The first name for Mrs. William Biggs was Effie.
2. I don't know the first name for Mrs. S.E. Taylor but Mr. Taylor was Rev. Samuel E. Taylor.Re: the names of the grandchildren:
1. The first name of Mrs. Edgar Ziegler was Carrie.
2. The first name of Mrs. Dave Dull was Dorothy.
3. The first name of Mrs. Robert Mork was Lois.The obituary states that Mrs. Samuel Gween of McGregor, Iowa was an aunt of Ellen's. Mrs. Gween was Nancy Ellen Flexman, daughter of Martha Jane Barnhouse and Arthur Flexman.

Mrs. Ellen Diamond, aged 82, died Tuesday night at the Diamond home here after being in poor health for several years. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the home with burial in the city cemetery. Surviving her are the widower, John Diamond, and her faithful daughter, Miss Mae Diamond, who so tenderly cared for her mother during her illness, also Mrs. William Biggs, another daughter living in Monona. There are also two sons and another daughter. Mrs. Diamond, for a number of years ran a rooming and boarding house and is well known for her ability. She was a wonderful mother and a good neighbor. The sympathy of the community is extended the family.
