Mrs. John [sic] Looney Sr. died Monday afternoon in her home in Dubuque. Funeral services were held Thursday morning from St. Patrick's Catholic church in Monona at ten o'clock with burial in St. Patrick's cemetery. Rev. Father Luke Donlon, local pastor, was celebrant of the requiem high mass. Rev. Father Clune, formerly pastor at Postville was deacon, and Rev. Father J. Taken, of Elkader was sub-deacon. Father Clune preached the sermon.
Julia Colliton Looney was born in New York City, June 17, 1855, and when a small child the family moved to Clermont, Iowa, where she lived until her marriage to Thomas Looney Sr. (Edward Looney lives on the home farm near Luana.) Mr. Looney died in 1909.
Mrs. Looney and her daughters moved to Dubuque after the death of Mr. Looney. They were faithful members of St. Patrick's Catholic church in Monona. The splendid family of seven children proves that Mrs. Looney was a true mother.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas Looney, of St. Olaf, and five daughters: Hannah, Mayme, Rosalia and Estelle Looney, all of Dubuque, and Mrs. Grace Dunn of Central City, Iowa. Twelve grandchildren, a brother, James Colliton lives in Minneapolis. Mrs. Mary Glynn, of Monona, is a sister of Mrs. Looney. A son, John F. Looney, died about ten years ago.

*Her husband was Thomas Looney, not John as in the first sentence of the obituary.
