Funeral services for Margaret Ellen "Ella" Looney, 87, were held at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Elkader Wednesday, March 18, with Bishop Francis J. Dunn and Msgr. L.W. Klassen officiating. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Monona.

Priests also at the altar were Msgr. Wm. Roach and Rev. John Peters.

Mrs. Looney died Sunday, March 15, at the Grandview Nursing Home, Oelwein. She had been in failing health for five years.

Margaret Ellen Dunn was born Nov. 20, 1882, in Cox Creek Township, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Dunn. On October 29, 1912, she was married to John Looney at Sacred Heart Church in Cox Creek Township. The couple farmed for a time near Postville and came to Clayton County in 1922. Her husband preceded her in death.

Surviving are three children: Mrs. C.A. in 1932, (Helen) Dolan, Dakota City, Neb.; Tom Looney, Oelwein; and Mrs. William (Virginia) McTaggart, Elkader; three brothers, Clem Dunn, Waterloo, and Earl and Jay Dunn, Elkader; and 11 grandchildren.

Pall bearers were Stephen Leonard, N.H. Niemeer, Ambrose Whittle, Paul Malmborg and Ed. Finley.

Relatives attending her funeral were from Dakota City, Neb., Minneapolis; Nashville, Tenn.; Madison and Cuba City, Wis.; and from Sioux City, Waterloo, Oelwein, McGregor, Dubuque, Postville, Vinton and Key West in Iowa.
