Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Epps, 72, who died at her home here on Friday morning were held Monday morning at Sacred Heart church at 10:00 o'clock. The Rev. D. P. Cregan, pastor, read a mass of requiem. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery.
The casket was borne by E. C. Becker, Pete Meyers, Jack Conboy, James Little, James Bergan and James Corkery.
Mary Tripp was born Dec. 15, 1859, at Fairbanks, Iowa, and on April 20, 1879, was united in marriage to Lemuel Epps, who preceded her in death on August 20, 1911. Following their marriage which took place at Oelwein, Iowa, they resided in Fayette county near Lima for a period of eight years when they moved to this community and have lived here for the past 45 years.
Mrs. Epps was the mother of ten children, six of whom preceded her in death, namely: Alice, Lydia, Wm, Charles, Sarah and Frank. Those surviving her are: three sons, James of Clinton, Iowa, Oscar of Seattle, Washington, and Fred of Britt, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Anna) Adams of Clayton, Iowa; eight grandchildren; one brother, Charles Tripp of Volga and a number of nieces and nephews besides a friend, William Lewis, who has made his home with the family during his lifetime.
