Clayton County Register, Thur., 31 Mar. 1932.
Fred Henry Luepker was born in Farmersburg township, Sept. 7, 1886, as the son of Fred Luepker and his wife Clara, nee Fuelling. He received his education at the Hawkeye district school and attended confirmation instruction at St. Peter's church, National, where he was confirmed by Rev. J. Graening, Oct. 14, 1900.
On Sept. 16, 1914, he married Miss Nanie K. Stickford of Garnavillo and the young couple settled down on a farm on which Mr. Luepker had been born and lived during the early years of his life. It has remained his home up to this day.
Mr. Luepker was an industrious worker who attended diligently to the duties of his calling. He found time, however, to engage in other activities through which he served others. For a number of years he was a member of the Farmersburg band. When called upon, he was always ready to assist at services with his musical gifts. He remained a faithful member of his church at National. His family, neighbors and friends found him ready at all times to do his duty and he was universally esteemed.
For several years he had been afflicted with heart trouble which at times interfered with his work. He had always rallied, however, and had been in fairly good health lately. Last Wednesday night the family had visited at neighbors. They had returned and retired when he was stricken at 2:00 a.m. Thursday with a fatal heart attack and died before medical aid could arrive. He attained a age of 45 years, six months and 17 days.
Mr. Luepker is mourned by his wife, one daughter, Selma, and the following brothers and sisters: Louis and Ernest, Brainard, Minn., Mrs. Louise Kahle, Fulda, Minn., and John and Minnie, Monona. His sister Annie and brother William preceded him in death. His passing is also lamented by many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. G. Bunge at St. Peter's church, Garnavillo, Sunday afternoon and attended by a large number. Interment was made in the Garnavillo cemetery.
