Mary Jane (Glawe) Tielbar, 64, Farmersburg, Iowa, died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Garden View Assisted Living, Monona, Iowa.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg. The Rev. Jenny Edinger officiated. Inurnment was in the Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery, Farmersburg.
Mary was born on July 4, 1946, in St. Olaf, Iowa, to Lloyd and Ivanelle (Schuety) Glawe. She graduated from Central High School in Elkader, Iowa.
Mary was united in marriage to Roger Tielbar on July 7, 1982, at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, Iowa. They were the proud parents of two sons, Ken and Kevin. Roger passed away in December of 2008. Mary held various working positions in the area and most recently worked at Garden View Assisted Living in Monona.
She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg, where she was active in the St. John WELCA and served on many boards over the years. She was active in her local American Legion Auxiliary serving as President until her death. She loved all of her family members and will be deeply missed by them.
Survivors include her two sons, Ken (Julia) Tilson, Leavenworth, KS, and Kevin (Katie) Tilson, Luana; six grandchildren: Aaron, Cody and Elijah Tilson and Kaleb, Karli and Kyle Tilson; one sister, JoAnn Glawe, Dubuque; two brothers, Roger (Phyllis) Glawe, Volga and Dean (Sheila) Glawe, McGregor; two sister-in-laws, Gail Glawe, Manchester, and Diane Glawe, Tennessee; one brother-in-law, Gerald Howard, Monona; nine nieces: Shelley, Lisa, Heather, Elizabeth, Sophie, Brooke, Samantha, Laura, Cindy; six nephews: Lee, Jason, Michael, Jeremy, Dave, Dan, and a host of many other family members.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Ivanelle Glawe; her husband, Roger Tielbar; one sister, Cheryl Howard and two brothers, Larry and Randy Glawe.
Visitation was held on one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
