Elkader Register, Thur., 22 Aug. 1901.

Juliette Eddy, was born on the Isle of LaMotte, Ver., June 24, 1841, and died in Chicago at the Monroe Hospital Aug. 12, 1901. She was married to Mr. William Allyn after his return from a long service to his country, Dec. 11, 1865, near Cresco, Ia., and moved at once to their present home near Garnavillo. This union was blessed with two children, William Jr., married to Miss Anna Brant, and lives on a part of the old farm, and Juliette, still single, to whom has fallen the care of her father and the old home.

Mrs. Allyn has been ailing for about one year. Last May it was decided that she should go to Chicago for treatment in the hope that she might find relief. After undergoing a surgical operation it was found her trouble was beyond medical skill and death quickly claimed her as its own. All was done for her that skill or loving hands could do, but of no avail. Mrs. Allyn met death as she had always faced the active duties of life. Her trust and confidence was in God and on Him she relied "for grace to help in every line of need." She possessed those Christian virtues that go to make up a well rounded character in this life and the influence of her precepts and example remain to crown her memory. She was a loving mother and faithful wife held in the highest esteem by all who knew her best, as was evidenced by the large concourse of people who gathered at the residence, Thursday afternoon, August 15, where the funeral service was conducted by Rev. Baxter, pastor of the Congregational church. The deceased was taken to Kendleville, Ia., and laid to rest beside kindred dust.

Much sympathy is felt for the family in their sad affliction, especially the husband, who feels most keenly the loss of a life companion. Mrs. Lottie Post, Dubuque, Ia., Mrs. Sarah Stockman, Cresco, Ia., and Mrs. Henrietta Daskam, Kendleville, Ia., sisters of the deceased were present at the funeral services.
