Brophy, Gertrude "Gertie" (Viet) 1875 - 1901

Elkader Register, Thur., 23 May 1901, North McGregor column.

Died at her home in Mason City, Monday, May 20, 1901, Gertrude, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Viet, of this city. Gertie was born Nov. 18th, 1875, at Minneapolis. She came with her parents to this city twelve years ago, and here she grew up honored and loved by all her acquaintances. She was united in marriage to James Brophy Jan. 20, 1897, and from that time made her home in Mason City. She had been a patient sufferer several months, when death relieved her sufferings.

The funeral services were held at the Catholic church, Wednesday, May 22d, and she was buried in the Catholic cemetery. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, parents and brothers and sisters, to whom we extend the sympathy of the entire community.
