Elkader Register, Thur., 1 Aug. 1901.
A telegram this morning brought the sad news to Mrs. C. E. Grotewhol that her daughter, Mrs. Chas. E. Floete, had died at her home at Armour, S. Dak. The tidings were not entirely unexpected as it was known to her family that her time was limited by a disease of the heart. Mrs. Floete had been at Chicago taking treatment, and when assured that nothing could be done to help her had gone to spend the last few days with her loving husband and children.
Clara Floete was born in Elkader about 35 years ago, and no one who knew her as a girl and a woman could fail to admire her. She was kind to everyone. For this reason there is grief among her Elkader friends that one with such a lovely character should be called from her family and friends. She leaves a devoted husband and four children, besides her mother, three brothers and two sisters.
The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at Armour, S.D.
