DIED- at her home in Cedar Creek, Thursday morning, Dec. 12th, at the age of 61 years, Mrs. Mayer, wife of Joe Mayer. The deceased was a victim of dropsy, with which she suffered almost two years. She leaves to mourn her loss, a devoted husband, two children and many sorrowing friends. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's, Saturday forenoon, Father Raedler conducting the services. Her remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery.

Note: She is Franziska Meyer, wife of Joseph. Although both the Elkader Argus and the Elkader Register spelled her surname as Mayer, the spelling on their shared gravestone in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery is Meyer.
