Michael Ramming was born in Untersteinach, Bavaria, Germany, on July 28, 1885, and died at the nursing home at Waukon Feb. 11, 1959, at the age of 73 years, 6 months and 13 days.
Mr. Ramming came to America March 20, 1913, and came directly to Clayton County, where he spent the rest of his life. His first years in America were spent with the Fred Flagel family at Osterdock.
On Oct. 15, 1919, he was married to Ella Schloetzer of Guttenberg. After his marriage he and his wife farmed near Garnavillo until they purchased a farm near St. Olaf, where he lived until he suffered a stroke a little over three years ago. Since that time he was in the Manchester hospital and the past two years in the nursing home at Waukon.
Mr. and Mrs. Ramming had no children. His wife preceded him in death in 1946. He is survived by one niece, Louise Summa, Chicago, two nephews, Adam Ramming, Chicago, and Otto Ramming, Farmersburg, and five sisters-in-law, Mrs. Edna Cammeron, Delavan, Wis., Mrs. Pearl Dietrich, Guttenberg, Mrs. Viola Hoth, Elkader, Mrs. Elsie Larson, Elgin, and Mrs. Daisy Carrier, Guttenberg.
Services were held at the Schultz Funeral Home at Monona Saturday, Feb. 14, 1959, at 2 p.m. Burial was at the Garnavillo cemetery. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated.
