Funeral services for Eva Crowe, 77, retired Elkader school teacher, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Witt's Chapel in Elkader. Burial was in the East Side cemetery. The Rev. George Richter, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiated.
Miss Crowe died Sunday, Jan. 18, at the Samaritan Nursing Home in Elkader. She had taught rural schools in the Elkader community for 40 years and had also operated a beauty shop in Elkader for two years.
A daughter of William and Fanny Louisa Simar Crowe, Eva was born in Elkader, March 20, 1881. She is survived by one sister, Miss Ella Crowe, who is a patient at a Strawberry Point nursing home.
Miss Crowe was a active member of the Service Star Legion for many years. She retired from the teaching profession about five years ago.
