Funeral services for August John Martin Frederich Ortman, 81, were held Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Elkport. Burial was in Musfeldt cemetery. The Rev. Clare E. Biegler officiated.

Ortman, a retired farmer, died at his home in Garber on Dec. 23. He had been confined to his bed and a wheel chair for about a year.

He was born at Elkport on Sept. 10, 1877, and was a son of John and Mary Ahlers Ortman. On Dec. 12, 1906, he was married to Bertha Lindenberg, at Guttenberg.

Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Carol Wittman, Dubuque, and Adale Peterson, Cumberland, Wis., two brothers, Henry, Garber, and Otto, Beloit, Wis., and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Gifford, Elkport.

Pallbearers were: Ronald Parks, Richard Parks, Robert Parks, Lee Wittman, Jon Wittman and Julius Hauschen.
