Leslie Otto Nichols, son of Ross and Loretta Jones Nichols, was born near Elkport Nov. 16, 1889, and died at the McGregor hospital Dec. 27, 1958, at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 11 days.
He lived in the Garber vicinity until after his marriage to Katie Borrett at the United Brethren parsonage at Fairview, in Clayton county, Jan 19, 1911. A few years later they moved to the Volney vicinity where they lived the remainder of his life. He farmed all his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Earl and Norman; and one son, Kenneth, who died 25 years ago. Surviving are his wife; one son, Carl_ (Last letter looks like e or o.) of Waterville; two daughters, Beatrice (Mrs. Vincent Ambrose of Monona), and Lena Jane (Mrs. Don McShane of Luana); one sister, Grace (Mrs. Carl Engler of Maynard); 11 grandchildren, many more distant relatives, and a large number of friends.
