Dale E. Hyde was born near Osterdock, Iowa, April 6, 1903, the son of Victor and Susan Hyde. He died Sept. 16, 1959, at the age of 56 years and five months, due to a heart attack.
Mr. Hyde was graduated from the Guttenberg high school and attended Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. He subsequently taught in the rural schools of Clayton County and was a member of the staff of the Hotel Julian Dubuque in Dubuque.
After his marriage in 1926 to Anita Lundt, daughter of August and Minnie Lundt, the couple lived on a farm north of Colesburg. To this union were born five children: Faye (Mrs. Gordon Strayer), Iowa City; Keith, Garber; Merle, serving with the U.S. navy at Sanford, Fla,; Julia and Robert, both at home. Also surviving are his wife, one granddaughter, Hilary Strayer of Iowa City, and three brothers and two sisters: Harry W., Fremont, Ohio; Earl and Theodore, both of Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Leslie Patrick, Guttenberg; and Mrs. F. A. Groeltz, Cedar Rapids; and a host of friends.
Burial was at Ceres cemetery.
