Funeral services were held for Mrs. Elsie Klema at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1959, at the Witt Chapel, Elkader. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was at the city cemetery in Monona. Pallbearers were Alvin Klinkenberg, Gilbert Kurth, Gerald Kurth, Herbert Trappe, Walter Selberg and Walter Pettit.
Mrs. Elsie Klema, the daughter of William and Lene Schroeder Kurth, was born Nov. 12, 1891, in Wagner Township near Farmersburg, and died Monday morning, Sept. 21, at a Prairie du Chien hospital.
Mrs. Klema became ill with pneumonia about nine days before her death and appeared to be on the road to recovery until Sunday, when she became violently ill and was rushed to the hospital where she died shortly after midnight.
Mrs. Klema received her education in the rural schools in Wagner Township.
She was married to (looks like Willie) Klema of Conover, Iowa, Feb. 18, 1914.
Mr. Klema was a station agent for the Milwaukee railroad and because of the type of work was frequently assigned to various stations. He held positions among other places in Chicago, Ill., Monona, and in 1937 was transferred to Elkader.
Mrs. Klema was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church, Elkader.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1945, and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Irene) Larson and Della Klema, both of Elkader; also one brother, Walter Kurth, Luana.
