Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Possehl, 91, were held Wednesday Sept. 2, at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Monona, with the Rev. R. C. Schlueter officiating. Burial was in the Monona city cemetery. Pallbearers were Elmer Krambeer, Harold Sebastian, Irvin Becker, Gerald Pape, Elmer Marting and Frederick Becker.
Music was provided by a duet, Mrs. Lydia Pufahl and Mrs. R. C. Schlueter, with Mrs. Robert L. Evans accompanist at the organ.
Sophia Eva Kathyrn, daughter of Christian and Barbara, nee Schmidt, Hagensick was born in Read Township, Clayton County, Iowa, Nov. 21, 1867, and died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1959, after several days illness. However, all her life she had enjoyed good health.
January 5, 1868, she was baptized by the Rev. F. W. Seifert at Clayton Center and confirmed by Rev. Seifert April 10, 1881.
She was married to Frank Possehl by Rev. Seifert at Clayton Center, March 8, 1890. Following their marriage they farmed one mile north of National and made their home there until 1903, when they moved to Monona, where they resided until their deaths.
Mr. Possehl died Oct. 4, 1954, as a result of injuries received in a fall from a ladder in his apple orchard.
Mrs. Possehl was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Monona for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Tewes and Emma Hagensick, and one brother, who died in infancy.
She is survived by her daughter Elsie, two sisters, Mrs. Emelie Lenth and Mrs. Lenora Kurdelmeyer, Monona; three nieces and two nephews.
