Funeral services for Leander Heck, 51, were held Friday morning, Aug. 28, at 7:30 at St. Patrick's Church in Monona with the Rev. Francis Phelan officiating. Burial was in St. Josseph's cemetery at Garnavillo.
Mr. Heck died Tuesday, Aug. 25, at a Prairie du Chien hospital.
He was born May 16, 1908, in Volga Township, a son of George and Josephine Muench Heck. On Jan. 31, 1933, he was married to Cecil Berns at Garnavillo. He was educated in the Guttenberg school.
Mr. Heck formerly owned a business in St. Olaf and at the time of his death was farming on the edge of Farmersburg.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Edward Auer of Postville, Mrs. Hattie Meier, Mayme Heck and Mrs. Ida Kann of Guttenberg, and Mrs. Kathryn Fassbinder of Froelich; and three brothers, John of Charles City George of Garnavillo and Frank of Guttenberg.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William.
