Funeral services for Clifford Calvin Huntley, 62, of Strawberry Point, were held at the First Methodist Church Monday afternoon, Aug. 31, with the Rev. Robert L. Smith conducting the service. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
Huntley was born at Cedar Falls Oct. 26, 1896, the son of Sheridan and Minnie Cole Huntley. On Aug. 21, 1916, he was married to Anna M. Hacker at Mason City. The Huntleys came to Strawberry Point about 28 years ago and Mr. Huntley operated a service station for a time before starting the local locker plant, which he operated for about 20 years. He sold the locker plant only this summer and had just recently returned from a vacation trip to Minneesota.
He was stricken with a heart attack late Friday night and was taken to the Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Manchester, where he died about 4:25 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29.
Mr. Huntley was a member of the Methodist Church and of the Masonic Lodge. He was interested in community affairs and had served on the Strawberry Point town council.
Survivors include his wife of Strawberry Point; two daughters, Mrs. Darwin (Harriet) Newton of Burlington and Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Huffman of Webster City; and a granddaughter, Sandra Sue Huffman of Webster City. He was preceded by his parents and one sister.
