Mrs. Mathilda Wilhelmina Fritz, nee Hohman, was born in Elkport, March 27, 1881. On April 17, 1881, she was baptized by the pastor of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Elkport, and on March 18, 1894, was confirmed in this church.
On May 12, 1915, Miss Mathilda Hohman and Henry Fritz were married in the Lutheran Church of Elkader by the Rev. C. H. Franke. They were the parents of one daughter, Anna Mae.
Following her marriage and throughout her life Mrs. Fritz made her home on her husband's farm just north of Garber.
Mrs. Fritz died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 7, 1959, at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 11 days.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Anna Mae, in 1955, by two brothers and one sister. Surviving are her husband, Henry Fritz, Garber; one stepson, Elmer Fritz, Garber; one brother, August Hohman, Guttenberg; two nieces and numerous other relatives and friends.
Private services for the family were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1959, at the Witt Funeral Home in Elkader. The funeral service was conducted in the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Garnavillo, Tuesday, Nov. 10. Burial was at the Garnavillo cemetery. The Rev. L. C. Urlaub officiated.
Pallbearers were Earl Matt, Maloy Zittergruen, Hiram Zittergruen, Harold Kruse, Alvin Berns and Donnald Scheffert.
