McGregor- Theodore E. Hartwick, 84, retired area farmer, died Sunday at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wis.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the McGregor Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Giard Cemetery at Giard, Ia. Friends may call at the Thornburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include two sons, Dale and John, both of Giard.

Funeral services for Theodore Emanuel Hartwick, 84, were held Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 20, at 2 o'clock in the McGregor Methodist church with Rev. James Hearne officiating. Burial was in the Giard cemetery.

Mr. Hartwick died Sunday morning, Sept. 18, at the Memorial hospital in Prairie du Chien after suffering a stroke Thursday, Sept, 15, while in Prairie du Chien.

He was born a son of John and Christena, nee Arnold, Hartwick, Sept. 30, 1875, in Giard township, having lived on the same farm lacking 12 days of 85 years.

He received his education in the Clayton county rural schools and later graduated from Bayless Business college in Dubuque.

He was married to Matilda E. Datisman of Sherrill, Oct. 7, 1902.

He was united with the Methodist church in his youth and was a loyal, active, and true member serving on the official board up to the time of his death. He loved music and was blessed with a lovely tenor voice and will long be remembered as singing in the choir.

He was very community minded and served as township clerk for many years and also on the boards of the creamery, shipping association, Giard cemetery association, the former First State Bank of McGregor, and the McGregor Community hospital.

Preceding him in death were his wife, who died in 1952, a daughter, Helen Theodora, who died in 1915, his parents, one brother, Alfred, and two sisters, Mrs. William A. Meyer and Mrs. George H. Wessel.

Surviving are two sons, John S. and Dale D.; a daughter-in-law, Mary; and several nieces and nephews.

Six of his nephews served as pallbearers and were: Gilbert and Irvin Meyer, Fridolf Soderberg, Melvin Beimfohr, and Ivan and Joel Datisman.

Tice and Mrs. Howard Delohoyde of Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Datisman, Mrs. Ed Datisman, Mrs. Mary Tischauser, Miss Edna Mangold, Ivan Datisman and Joel Datisman of Sherrill; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kaiser and the Misses Laura and Elsie Datisman of Dubuque; Roy Wessel and Mrs. Rose Irmscher of Colesburg; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Miller of Inwood; and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Datisman and Mrs. Caddie Faith of Glen Haven, Wis.
