Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 24, 1959, at 2 p.m. in the Witt funeral parlors, Elkader, for Otto Ramming. Burial was at the Garnavillo cemetery with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating.
Pallbearers were Burton Thorson, Bill Hermann, Walde Embretson, Aden Hanson, Alonzo Engelhardt and Bill Koehn.
Otto Ramming, the son of John Ramming and his wife Magdalena, was born May 23rd, 1909, in Kul_ach, Germany, and died of a heart attack September 19, 1959, at his farm near Farmersburg, Iowa, at the age of 50 years, 3 months and 26 days.
At the age of 13 he came to the United States to live with his uncle, Michael Ramming. He received his education in the rural school and worked on farms in the National and Garnavillo communities. In 1940 he moved on a farm west of St. Olaf with his uncle, Michael Ramming, where he lived until his death.
He had four brothers, George, Carl and Gustave, who preceded him in death, leaving his brother Frederick and two sisters, Katha_ina and Frieda to mourn his death. The three latter are living in Germany.
