Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Immanuel Lutheran church in Elkport for John Wittman, with the Rev. F. W. Tillmans officiating.
Mr. Wittman was the oldest son of John and Mary Wittman. He was born on Dec. 10, 1879, and died suddenly Wednesday morning at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 5 days. He had been in ill health the past three years due to a heart attack at that time.
On June 24, 1908, he was united in marriage to Clara Bahr. To this union were born three sons: LeRoy of Dubuque, Julius of Elkport and Carroll of Cedar Rapids.
Mr. Wittman was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran church at Elkport. He spent his childhood days on a farm near Garber. Mr. Wittman followed the carpenter trade for the past fifty years.
He is survived by his wife Clara, and three sons, LeRoy, Julius and Carroll; three grandsons, Lee, John and Lynn; and two granddaughters, Kay and Phyllis Wittman; four brothers, William, Lake Lillian, Minn.; Andrew, of Minneapolis, Minn.; Louis, of Olivia, Minn.; Alfred, of near Guttenberg; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Rodas, of Strawberry Point; Mrs. George Costigan, of Elkport; Mrs. Lester Schnack, of East Moline, Ill.
His parents preceded him in death, also two brothers, Henry and Fred of Minnesota, one sister, Lena Gill and a infant granddaughter, Julie Ann Wittman.
Pallbearers were: Howard Krieg, Eugene Knospe, Ray Finnegan, Floyd Williams, Julius Haushen and Albert Webber.

Wittman, Mrs. Martha Wittman, all of Lake Lillian, Minn.; Louis Wittman and son, Earl, of Olivia, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rust, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Swanson, of Wilmer, Minn.; Mrs. Lena Wittman, Hector, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Einor Gilhof, Lake Lillian, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Tasse, LaPorte City, Iowa; John Moser, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Moser, Guttenberg; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rodas and Marilyn, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Shaw, Strawberry Point; Mrs. Walter Copeland, Las Vegas, Nev.; Walter Saur, Enid, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Saur of Elkader; Miss Lucia Roggmann and Mrs. Arnold Roggman of Garnavillo.
