Volga City, Ia. - The funeral of Mrs. J. W. Donnell, 49, was held here Monday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church with the Rev. James Wray, pastor, officiating.
Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. The casketbearers were: Glen and Dean Probert, Glen Bennington, Ray Burgin, Walter Roys, and Herman Peterman.
Mrs. Donnell died at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein following a lingering illness.
As Minnie Caroline Steckleberg, she was born in Clayton County on Aug. 18, 1887, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Steckleberg. She spent her early life on a farm near Elkader and was graduated from Elkader High School. Later she taught school. In 1909 she was married to Ernest Probert and they established a home on a farm in Highland Township. A son, William, was born to the union. Following the death of Mr. Probert in 1931, she moved to Volga with her son and on Sept. 23, 1936, she was married to Dr. J. W. Donnell of Hazleton.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, now living at Albert Lea, Minn.; four sisters, Mrs. L. E. Bennington of Fayette, Mrs. Elizabeth Libby of Oelwein, Mrs. H. P. Sentman of Fairmont, Minn., and Amelia Steckleberg of Des Moines.
