Direen, Annastatia 1852 - 1937

Volga City, Ia. - Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Church here Monday morning for Annastatia Direen, 84, with the Rev. D. P. Gregan, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery. The pallbearers were: J. J. and M. J. Conboy, James Little, F. L. O'Brien, Henry Dahrer, and Fred Orr.

Miss Direen was born in St. Louis on May 2, 1852, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Direen. While still a young child, she came with her parents to Iowa, settling on a farm a few miles south of Volga City. Here the greater part of her life was spent. In 1913 she came to Volga City with a brother and a sister, since the home.

For the past 18 Months she was an invalid.

She is survived by a brother, Lawrence, and a sister, Katie. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and one brother.
