Julius Frank Webb was born September 25th, 1844, in Rock county Wisconsin, and died at his home in Shell Rock, Iowa, September 27th, 1916 having reached his 72nd birthday on Monday, just two days before his death. He was the oldest of a family of seven children.

He came with his parents to Fayette county, Iowa, in 1851, at the age of seven years, where he lived most of the time until 1868. At West Union he learned the blacksmith trade, which he followed for eighteen years, going to Strawberry Point in 1869.

About 1883 he took up photography, which he followed ever since, moving to Coon Rapids in 1887, where he lived until he moved to Shell Rock, in 1896.

On the 18th of November, 1869, he was married at Strawberry Pint to Lizzie Inger, to which union were born four children, Ida, who died at the age of seventeen; Lucy, Mrs. Alma Keeler, who died in 1906, and John, of whom Lucy and John, with the bereaved wife and granddaughter, Mary Keeler, survive to mourn his loss.

Mary Keeler, his only grandchild, made her home with her grandparents from the time she was five years old and has been as an own child.

Besides these he leaves two brothers and one sister, M.G. Webb, of Elgin, Iowa; V.S. Webb, of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Flora Reese, of Smith Center, Kan.

Mr. Webb was a great reader with a very retentive memory, always ready to engage in conversation or discussion. During many years he was a very active worker in various lodges. He was not a church member but he was doing the right and was liberal even beyond his means in assisting the needy.

Mr. Webb's health was poor for years, being afflicted with rheumatism, and since August 19th he had not been up town, being unable to go alone since last December. His later trouble was with his heart, and it finally ceased its action and the weary body was at rest. Funeral services were held at the home, Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. T.J. Elwick. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery.
