Clayton County Register, Thur., 16 July 1953.

Mrs. Chester Peake, 74, formerly Bessie Taylor Dohrer, died Tuesday at the Oelwein hospital.

The remains were taken to the Gill Funeral Home at Strawberry Point.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday (today), July 16, at the Presbyterian church at 2 p.m.

Burial will be in Hill Crest cemetery, Volga.

Clayton County Register, Thur., 23 July 1953.

The death of Mrs. Chester Peake, 74, occurred Tuesday, July 14, at the Mercy Hospital in Oelwein following a long illness.

Bessie Taylor was born Jan. 23, 1879, at Volga, the daughter of Howard Taylor and Mary Ingraham Taylor and grew to womanhood in this community.

Following her marriage to Henry V. Dohrer, they resided in Elkader a number of years. In the early 1930's they moved to Volga and established their home.

Mr. Dohrer preceded his wife in death.

In June 1949, she was married to Chester Peake of Oelwein and they resided there until her death.

Survivors are her husband, Mr. Peake of Oelwein; two daughters, Mrs. Carl P. (Erma) Lechner and Mrs. Hazel Cain, both of Ames; two sons, Glenn Dohrer, Davenport, and Gordon Dohrer, Ames; a granddaughter, Carla Beth Lechner, Ames; one brother, Orick Taylor, Washington, and other relatives. A son Leon Dohrer, her parents, a sister, Eva Taylor also have preceded her.

Services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Volga Presbyterian church, with the Rev. C. E. Hamilton of Oelwein in charge. Mrs. Archie Fox, vocalist, was accompanied by Mrs. Walter Roys at the piano.

Pallbearers were: Walter Roys, Melvin Gregerson, Howard Borden, Archie Fox, William Smith and Oaklin Probert.

Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery.

Among the relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Carl P. Lechner and Carla Beth, Mrs. Hazel Cain, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Dohrer, Ames; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Peake, Oelwein; Addie Peake, Arlington; Frank Peake, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wistrick, Cora Tujuetsch, Elkader; Mr. and Mrs. Archie Fox, Strawberry Point; Florence Allman, Waterloo.
