Strawberry Point's oldest resident, Mrs. Ellen Smart Nace, 97, died at the home of her son, Winnie, at 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, July 8. Born May 15, 1856 at Scales Mound, Ill., she was the daughter of Jane and Newton Smart. Married Feb. 23, 1881 to Frank Nace, at Scales Mound, Ill. She was a member of the Methodist church and her life interest was her family and quilting.

Survivors include her two sons, Roy and Winnie, both of Strawberry Point, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Allie S_ncock, Warren, Ill., also survives.

Mrs. Nace was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1936.

Funeral services were held July 10, at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist church in Strawberry Point with the Rev. Wayne L. Carlson officiating and interment at Strawberry Point Cemetery.
