Hilda Mary Fuelling, daughter of the late Ernest H. and Mary Fuelling, was born July 4, 1891, in Farmersburg township. When but a small child she moved with her parents to the home farm in Wagner township. On the ninth of August she was baptized by the Rev. Seifert of Clayton Center. On April 6, 1905, she was confirmed by the Rev. Fred Braun of Farmersburg. She was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran church of Farmersburg.

She received her education in the Farmersburg public school and from then on she helped with the work at home. Four years ago she moved to her present home in Farmersburg. She was a member of the Ladies Aid of St. John's Lutheran church, at various times serving as president, secretary and treasurer. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 888 of St. Olaf, serving as its president for a time.

In March of 1951 she submitted to a major operation. For a time this operation seemed to be successful, but in February of this year her health began to fail again and medical aid was summoned. Four weeks ago she was taken to the Postville hospital. However, it was found expedient to bring her back home. She died at her home, Sunday, August 16, at 11:30 p.m., after a lingering illness, reaching the age of 62 years, 1 month, and 12 days.

She leaves to mourn her death her twin sisters, Lona and Laura at home, four brothers, Ed of Luana, Ben and Louis of Farmersburg, and Miles of Guttenberg, three nieces, seven nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her brother William, her sister Esie, and two nephews.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 19, at 1:45 p.m., at the home, 2 p.m. at the St. John's Lutheran church, burial at the F and W cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Herbert Deal, Herbert Thoreson, J. J. Mathews, Wm. Reardon, Hugo Oelke, Leroy Larson.

Those in charge of the flowers were: Mrs. Orpha Larson, Mrs. Floyd Orvis, Mrs. Herbert Deal and Mrs. Hugo Oelke.
