Clarence John Karl Buckman, son of the late Wm. E. Buckman and his wife Anna, nee Harnack, was born Nov. 7, 1904, in Farmersburg township, Clayton county, Iowa. He was baptized on Dec. 11, 1904, by the Rev. F. Braun. He attended both public and religious school and was confirmed by the Rev. F. Braun on Nov. 2, 1919.

He was united in marriage to Esther Radloff on Sept. 12, 1928, Pastor W. Braun performing the ceremony. He was engaged in farming all his life, living on the same farm where he was born, where he also died.

The deceased was a faithful member of St. John's here in Farmersburg, serving on the church council for a three year term.

His health started to fail in March of this year. He entered Beaumont hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wis., on May 24. After five days he returned to his home. When after thirty days he found no relief he sought medical aid at Rochester, Minn. He entered St. Mary's hospital, there, on June 24. He submitted to an operation on July 6, when it was established that nothing could be done for him. He came home July 11, and was confined to his bed until his death on August 10, at 12:45 p.m., at the age of 48 years, 9 months, and 2 days.

He was preceded in death by his father, who died on April 9, of this year.

Survivors are: his wife, Esther; his mother, Mrs. Wm. Buckman; one sister, Alice, Mrs. Carl Radloff; nephews; nieces; besides many other relatives.

Funeral services were held Thursday, August 13, 1:30 p.m. at the home, 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran church. Burial was at Garnavillo.
