George Thompson, 66, was found dead of gunshot wounds Friday afternoon at his farm home three miles north of Volga by his stepson, Kenneth Scott. The death was declared a suicide by Clayton County Coroner E. W. Tuecke.

Mrs. Thompson was in town shopping at the time, but stated her husband had been in poor health for some time and had suffered a nervous breakdown several weeks ago.

Mr. Thompson formerly farmed near Arlington, but moved to his present farm in 1952.

The body was taken to the Meulenthaler funeral home at Elgin, from which funeral services were held Sunday to the Wadena Presbyterian church, with burial at the Wadena cemetery.
