Funeral services for Joseph Ray Liddy were held at the Sacred Heart church at Littleport at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 14, the Rev. Robert Saunders officiated. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery with the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars in charge of the services.

He was the son of the late M. H. Liddy, prominent early pioneer, and was born at Littleport, Nov. 12, 1886. He became associated with the International Harvester company in 1910 and in 1913 was transferred to Montana as a traveling auditor for the concern. In 1916, he organized the East Helena State Bank at Helena, Mont., and served as its president until 1934 when his health began to fail. He was a veteran of World War I.

A patient at the Veteran's hospital at Wood, Wis., since 1944, he never fully recovered from pneumonia contracted in January of this year, and his condition was serious since then.

He never married and is survived by one brother, Emmett, and a sister, Miss Nell Liddy, of Littleport.

Pallbearers were: Charles Meder, John Garaughty, Jim Cain, Melvin Hakert, J. P. Zapf and Forrest Nading.
